about the Poulsbo Half Marathon

The Poulsbo Half Marathon and 10k is a beautiful course that runs through “Little Norway”. It will have chip timing, participant shirts and finisher medals! All participants will also get free photo downloads. The course starts and finishes at Liberty Bay Waterfront Park and runs through downtown Poulsbo.

The Poulsbo Half takes place on land historically inhabited by the following Native American tribes:

Coast Salish
dxʷdəwʔabš Duwamish
dxʷsəqʷəb Suquamish

There are no higher stakes than being kind to the earth; we care deeply about keeping our planet viable for the next generation. To that end, we organize our events with an eye towards minimizing our impact on the planet. Read more here.

Committed to Making All Feel Welcome

Orca Running is making a new effort to make sure that everyone feels welcome and safe at our running events and in our community. We have a non-binary registration option and a non-binary category for overall awards.

race info

The course

The race starts and finishes at Liberty Bay Waterfront Park in downtown Poulsbo.  Click here to view the park in Google Maps. The half marathon course is a double out and back course along beautiful Lemolo Shore Drive.  It’s flat and fast!

Please note that while the course will be appropriately monitored and traffic controlled, it is not a closed course, so please be aware of your surroundings at all times. We also recommend that you not wear headphones.

Aid stations will be every 2-3 miles and will provide water, Tailwind electrolyte and GU gels. Please remember, Orca Running races are cupless.

Orca Running is committed to reducing waste and protecting the environment.  As part of this commitment, we are making all events cupless. The tiny little cups that are used for an instant generate tremendous amounts of garbage. We recommend you purchase a handheld bottle, a hydration pack, or we can provide you with a small re-useable cup that folds easily into your waistband to use during the entire race and future races.

We highly recommend carpooling!  There are several options for parking near Liberty Bay Waterfront Park.  No event parking is allowed at the start and finish line area so we suggest you park in one of the nearby lots that can be seen here.

Overall awards will be given to the top 3 male, female, and non-binary runners based off of gun time not chip time.  So, you should start in the front of the pack for your distance.  We also give out age group awards in 5 year increments, so be sure to check your results at the Orca Running tent.  We DO NOT MAIL OUT AWARDS after the race, they must be picked up at the race.

There are two hotels very close to the start/finish line: Guest House Poulsbo and the Poulsbo Inn & Suites.

We have a clear set of policies that we uniformly follow for all races. Entries are not refundable, but you can defer your entry, transfer it to another race, or transfer it to another. You can review our full set of policies here.

We offer Gear Check but you’ll need to provide your own bag.  We’ll keep your stuff dry for you while you run. Please note that Orca Running is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
